Vegas Vacation!

The countdown is on until the B.A.A. Half Marathon!  I'm feeling mostly prepared but need to get one last long run in.  According to my running schedule, my 10 miler was supposed to happen while I was in Vegas last weekend...We flew out Saturday morning and I flew back home first thing Monday morning, leaving Sunday as my Run Day.

Let's just say 10 miles didn't happen. Being up late Saturday night (it's Vegas, Baby) and not adjusting to the time difference was a recipe for running failure.  However I did wake up at 6am Vegas time (since it was technically 9am EST) ready to go.  So I decided I would split up my run between Sunday and Monday when I got back.  Got ready to run and headed downstairs with my husband, onto the casino floor to get out to the street.  One of these things was not like the other and it was definitely us going for a run while everyone else was partying still from the night before or getting an early start.

Got outside to see that we weren't the only ones out there getting some miles in.  It was a beautiful and sunny 62 degrees of dry heat, which I also was not used to.  My legs started to get comfortable at about 2 1/2 miles but breathing was difficult at best. I've run with bronchitis before and this definitely felt like that did; like I was trying to run with my toddler strapped to my chest. Not a good time.

So I decided to cut the run short and we headed back into town, but not before I had to get a photo of this:
When will this happen again, right?

So I ran 4 miles on Sunday with the plan of running 6 when I got home on Monday....

Leaving Vegas 5am Monday

Until jet lag hit me as soon as I got home and the only thing my body was telling me to do was take a nap before kiddo came home from school.  Instead, I'll be running my 10-11 miles this weekend and accepting that sometimes I have to make adjustments.

How did you handle running while on a quick vacation?
